In 2023, Occupational Safety Card training underwent significant updates that came into effect on 1 April 2023. These changes aim to improve the effectiveness of the training and its suitability for the needs of modern working life. <\/p>\n
The Occupational Safety Card celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2023. Over two decades, the Occupational Safety Card has become a success. To date, more than 2.5 million Occupational Safety Cards have been issued in total. <\/p>\n
Previously, Occupational Safety Card training lasted eight hours\u2014including the exam\u2014but with the update, the duration was shortened by half an hour. This change was made based on feedback from workplaces and course instructors, and its purpose is to make the training a more concise information package. <\/p>\n
With the update, the learning objectives have also been refined. The new learning objectives focus specifically on the following areas. <\/p>\n
1. Principles of occupational health and safety at a shared workplace: The training covers the rights and obligations of occupational health and safety actors at a shared workplace, cooperation in occupational safety, and the rights and obligations of both the employer and the employee.
The updated Occupational Safety Card training can be completed in several ways:
\u2022 Blended learning: A combination where part of the studies are completed as independent online learning.<\/p>\n
With the update, a shorter, four-hour refresher course option was also reintroduced. A valid Occupational Safety Card can therefore be renewed with a four-hour refresher course and an exam. The total duration of the refresher training is 4.5 hours. This change makes renewing the card more flexible and less time-consuming. However, it is important to note that the refresher course must be completed while the card is still valid to be eligible for the shorter training. If the Occupational Safety Card has already expired, the full-day 7.5-hour training must be completed in its entirety. <\/p>\n
